Mental Health
The Healing Centre aims:
- To improve access to culturally appropriate and high quality mental health services for individuals, couples and families;
- To empower Indigenous people to become increasingly involved in their own service delivery.
The Healing Centre provides counselling services in relation to Mental Health and the Stolen Generation by providing clients with access to qualified staff who have experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health and Social and Emotional Wellbeing.
The Healing Centre is located at our Woolloongabba Clinic at 55 Annerley Road and its hours of operation are:
Monday 9.00am to 4.30pm
Tuesday – Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm
In addition, the Healing Centre offers:
- Spiritual and Cultural Counselling;
- Advocacy and referral pathways to access external services and/or agencies such as Housing or Centrelink;
- Liaison with other mental health services to provide better access to services;
- Delivery of programs that support community awareness of mental health issues. (e.g. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid Course, which is delivered regularly throughout the year).
- A Cultural Healing Camp, which is held at least once a year in conjunction with the Stolen Generation Program.
